We here in Maritime Canada - in our own small-minded way - did much the same for Gabriel Wortman, also for decades.
Almost no one who came across our own Mr Evil got very angry or very mad.
It seems that there were just a few : God knows who you are.
But for the rest of us - who knew and did nothing : shame on us.
For our sins : ‘go forth, child and read Mary Trump’s book and think about saying your mea culpas - to someone, to God, whoever - and then on your knees : four heartfelt Hail Marys that it never happens again....’

Gabriel Wortman is a modern day Kleomedes of Astypalia. In 492 B.C.in Olympic competition Kleomedes killed Ikkos of Epidaurus and gets disqualified. In rage and madness Kleomedes goes back to Astypalia attacks a school with 60 children, pulls down a support beam collapsing the ceiling on them. Gabriel Wortman undercover cop, CI, or whatever ended up DISQUALIFIED by/from the RCMP and Gabe started looking around for pillars to pull down.
I do believe that GW’s life has been shaped by his family’s complicated relationship to the RCMP, for sure...
ReplyDeleteBut did Gabe start flogging illegal ciggies before or after he sought to join the RCMP ? Or did the highly jealous envious GW decide he would become the anti-mountie to his greatly admired uncle mounties ?
ReplyDeleteI think at some point Gabe's lifelong obsession with the RCMP and his seemingly years long experience with smuggling met up and just like Gabriel Wortman and Lisa Banfield it was a match made in heaven... Until it wasn't. I would certainly love to know the soecifics but I doubt the RCMP will tell. They told global news asking about CIs was inappropriate over E Pirate. Even alluding to it they accused global of putting lives at risk. They've added policing questions to the long list of jobs they do apparently.
ReplyDeleteExcept right here in NS we have an CI story with many murders around it Dany Kane ; so the RCMP cant say Ci stories never go pear shaped - they do.
