If you have a tip about Gabe Wortman the Portapique Spree Killer, sure give it to the RCMP - but first give it to FRANK MAGAZINE

Here’s why.

When you have formally provided information to the RCMP, they invariably ask that you not share it with social media or commercial media.

They have no legal grounds to stop you but they’ll never say that.

Instead, they symbolically put their arm around your shoulders and whisper, “Let this be our little secret okay? Another piece of candy ?”

What they actually verbally say is “ it will help us to do our jobs better.”

Yeah, well, if you saw that the victim had a pink scarf tightly around his neck and the mounties intend to bring the killer to justice - by all means remain silent.

But, in the H FORCE inquiry, your tip will likely be far more mundane but still useful and it will go into a vast maw and may or may not come out years from now - and  remember, there is no killer alive to bring to justice. Meanwhile if you honor and obey the red serge, that bit of stimulating information will remain out of circulation.

Not good : not good at all !

In my experience what best awakes others to the moral need to tell the truth about the Gabriel they knew is their reading of others, others rather like themselves, who are coming forward to bare their souls to FRANK MAGAZINE about Gabe.

Put simply, tips begat tips - tips to FRANK, to other media and to the RCMP.

So please tell the RCMP, but only after telling FRANK first.
