Troll ye with useless time on your hands, troll endlessly through a month’s worth of the pages of Gabriel Wortman’s hometown daily, The Moncton Times-Transcript, and try to find their local take on their very own hometown killer.
Oh, its there.
But don’t blink, because like a very small town, you’ll miss it as you’re passing through.
Its right there on the front page lead story April 20th 2020, the day after the Portapique spree killings.
Written by Derek Haggett of the paper.
Basically CP wire copy you could read everywhere in Canada.
But the subtitle under the headline at least says this :
“Former classmates remember suspect Gabriel Wortman as student at Riverview High”
Inserted into the middle of the wire copy is one sentence memories by Loretta Parlee ( I’m guessing francophone check 1, woman check 1) and Terry Rennison (again, I’m guessing anglophone check 1, male check 1).
Loretta recalls a quiet guy, very friendly, outgoing, maybe a little awkward, always doing catwalks with his bike.
Terry recalls him pulling wheelies on his dirt bike, always smiling, seemed a good guy.
And unless I missed something, that is it from the hometown paper on its homegrown mass murderer.
Covered the local angle : done and dusted.
The Irving Chain covers the province of New Brunswick, well, like a chain.
Like an auction block chain.....

ReplyDeleteI wonder f your comment was meant for my post on the Denturist Board. Most people seem to think Register Boards are built like meat cleaver : all or nothing.
DeleteBut it is in their powers far short of kicking someone out of a profession for life that they do their best work. Their good character clause gives them lots of ill-defined powers --- the military have a similar clause that they can use with subtle but powerful strokes...
