tracking the Gabriel Wortman, mountie CI claim though public online obits

the Hells Angel-Prison Guard angle - Paul droppin’ bad acid - or what ?
I don’t have any insider information —- Zip, None —— about Gabriel Wortman —- and probably you don’t either.

In fact, if you are like me, you feel more than ordinarily trapped behind a computer screen inside your home - thanks Covid !

How then do you get a sense that the media reports you hear have any truth to them ?

What I do first and foremost when reading a news story is to put the names I come across - particularly names that seem unusually rare - into a google search combined with the words “survived by” or “visit the grave of”. Searching for online obits.

Basically I am using the skills of genealogy 101 to do a little amateur detecting on a mass killer’s life.

Author and RCMP critic Paul Palango was on the Rick Howe radio show on June 11th, detailing his theories that the unstable and violent GW was given a lot of slack by the RCMP because he was a CI (informant) to the New Brunswick RCMP with regards to the Hells Angels and Mexican drug cartels etc.

Heavy stuff - is Paul just dropping bad acid and spinning this stuff out of his butt —- or what ?

He mentions an NS born Hells Angel called Peter Alan Griffon. I google that unusual name and “survived by” and get the obit of Tom Kavalak of Springhill NS.

Kavalak is survived by Joanne (Alan) Griffon of near by Portapique and Audrey McLeod of near by Truro. Audrey’s son is called Sean. Same name was one of GW victims. I google Sean McLeod and survived by Audrey Truro and a Chronicle Herald obit confirms the Portapique Hell’s Angel and the Hunter Road murdered prison guard are cousins.

About the same time, Paul is making that same point on the Rick Howe Show.

On this particular claim, a minute googling confirmed Paul was indeed ‘telling the truth’.

Now was that so very hard  - for me - or any ordinary citizen - to do ?

If children could vote and grandpa couldn’t, kids would be swinging on swings and Truro Racetrack would remain closed

Whatever elderly NS voters want, elderly voters get : except maybe nursing homes that aren’t deathtraps...
If you went to a Nova Scotia harness racing track in the 1950s to the 1960s, you’d see a lot of thirty year old men.

Many of those same men are still going to the harness races, only they are all about 80 years old now.

(They are about the only ones still going to the harness races.)

At that age, they are all prime Covid+ Ventilator +ICU+Coffin material.

Yet the McNeil government is letting all these “avid voters” crowd themselves, cheek to jowl, into the racetrack stands to cough our province back into Wave Two of Covid 2020.

Children, on the other hand, because they are too young to vote, are invisible to the McNeil regime.

They might be thought very much healthy enough to withstand the rare chance of catching covid from each other in the breezy outdoors in a child’s playground.

Except that, unlike the elderlys’ deathtrap raceways, the kids’ playgrounds are still all yellow-taped up.

This hypocrisy is an open-and-shut case of “health concerns be damned” : because older voters vote so reliably, that is who Premier McNeil lap-dances all his public policy towards....

McNeil Govt Quietly Kills Baby But News “Leaks Out” In Our New Online World

news of the killing seeped out online
Governments killing babies and orphans is never politically popular - even Stephen McNeil’s mother could have told him that.

But in the old days, in the cosy old days, the McNeil government Lands & Forest bureaucrats could reply on the few reporters who bothered to cover that department to be so safely embedded as to be basically in their pocket.

They would never have squealed - not back in the good old days.

I can well remember that when I formally complained about a too-cosy Lands and Forest helicopter journey a CBC TV reporter took , it resulted in me being persona no grata at the people’s news corporation for ever after.

(As an environmentalist, I was never persona plus grata at the Pulp Mills’ best-friend-with-benefits inside the provincial government.)

Even today, if you want to maintain a  working relationship with Lands and Forests, you make your complaints about their actions privately - inside the Big Tent.

You never - ever - voluntarily go public about your unhappiness.

And getting inside the Big Tent is no more easy than is being invited to Stephen McNeil presser  : you have to be vetted as generally tame and safe and harmless.

But Lands and Forest’s donations basically come in one big lump every four years - at election time.

Because once a tight-fisted government is elected (like the McNeil government) that likes its departments to hire expensively paid PR flacks to never reply to media questions, you can safely hope to ride out storms over killing cute little baby orphans.

Your pay cheque is safe.  Department functions will still be funded tomorrow.

You can safely ignore reporters’ questions - in fact if you want to stay on the good side of Stephen McNeil, you best never ever return reporters’ calls.

But Hope For Wildlife depends on  the continuous flow of many small donations and upon many small volunteers - it can’t afford to be seen as arrogant to people’s outrages over killing baby orphans - so Hope Swinimar agreed to talk to the reporter when she called, after the news of a recently killed baby leaked out online.

I sure hope that Ms Swinimar’s talking to the reporter, even if she did so only when the reporter began the call, won’t damage the Hope for Wildlife sanctuary in my home village of Seaforth : it does very much needed work nursing wildlife back to a life in the wilds.

But in today’s new world of civilians and amateurs leaking all sorts of stuff online - the recent amateur video of George Floyd’s murder-by-cop’s-knee comes to mind -  government departments forcing stakeholders into “cosy relationships between fellow professionals”  (‘let this just be OUR little secret, alright?’) aren’t always going to hold up anymore.

McNeil’s staged appearance of openness about Covid-19 has made him Nova Scotia’s most popular premier since polling began : but his reality  - that of a love for excessive secrecy , on inquiry calls and on government business in general - is going to see him - in turn - get euthanized by the voters at the ballot box on election day.

What goes around, comes around...

Great-granddaughter of famous Temperance evangelists marries hopeless drunk : Corinna Kincaid & Gabriel Wortman

Did Corinna Kincaid seek to ‘save a sinner’ ?
LOVE does indeed make for strange bed mates.

Gabriel Wortman was ever so slowly dying from years of being a hopeless drunk : his liver as damaged as his brain.

His mom worried that he ONLY lived on beer, not food.

Many of his outbursts of violence seemed to come after he had been drinking extra hard.

So how on earth did Corinna Kincaid come to marry him : a belief that love can conquer even the stiffest of drinks - or what ?

Because both of her father’s grandparents came from long lines of fervent (WCTU national lecturer level) tee-totalling evangelists*, both back in Northern Maine and later in Truro, NS.

Hardshell Baptists most people might call them.

Her great- grandpa even preached a lot up around Houlton Maine, if you wondering for a reason why on earth Gabriel Wortman would pick that small town to have his illegal guns sent to.

Corinna’s pa grew up on (very) remote Kincaid Mountain with the nearest metropole being Trafalgar NS (joke) : so far back, they had to come out to hunt.

Soon as he was an adult he headed for civilization ; the affluent retirees’ paradise of the Lunenburg  South Shore.

The LOVE connection that first drew Corinna and Gabriel together is almost as mysterious as the LOVE connection that kept Gabriel and Lisa together for 20 tumultuous years....

* I should disclose that I am a teetotaller myself - once tried to join a Roman Catholic Temperance  Club here in Dartmouth (Catholic teetotallers, yes we exist !) but the few remaining 80 year old members didn't really want a youngster who was 25...

Journalism-by-wire as dangerous as flying a Navy helicopter-by-wire

PORTAPIQUE could have been spelled PINE STREET
As God and Bell Fibre is my witness, I am very guilty of journalism-by-wire : Covid won’t let me into the paper records of courthouses.

But I do try to search online for alternatives to strictly relying  on the public government online databases of court cases.

They never seem to extend into the 1990s or earlier, so GW’s violence only starting 2001 might just be an artefact of fairly new computer databases.

A couple of minutes ago, on a Facebook forum devoted to dissecting the GW cock-up, a regular contributor mentioned that her friends, former neighbours of Gabriel Wortman and Corinna Kincaid when they lived at the bottom of Pine Street between 1996 and 2001, remember GW seriously beaten up another child (not Matt M) and hassling plenty of others : he had a reputation of being mean to neighbour kids.

This is not “the grumpy old man” from Hollywood’s Central Casting : Gabe was only 27 -28 when he moved to Pine !

Coupled with his serious assault on Matt M on Portland Street, this should have etched out a distinct pattern to the neighbour policeman on the beat, if such a role existed any more.

But again - and again and again - it shows that Gabriel was indeed well known to the HRM police despite their thrice before the cock crows denials.

Let’s ease up a little on Mark Furey’s beloved Musical Riders and turn a little heat on the Premier McNeil’s favourite blue movie, the video about his half a dozen relatives on staff with the HRM police during GW’s 27 plus “violent” years in metro Halifax....

Gabriel Wortman the dog kidnapper ?

dotty parent ? or doting parent ?
We know Gabe went out of his way to shot dogs and to let other pets burn to death in his fires, but could there be a dog kidnapping in his distant past ?

Most provinces now have an free on line database of court decisions.

They don’t go very far back, don’t include oral decisions and you still usually have to journey to the local county courthouse and pay a fee to see anything useful.

But its a start.

In New Brunswick, for example, I found a $30,000 (rule 80) small claims court case an Evelyn Wortman made against a Moncton-based car dealer in 2007.

But for more distant cases, the better database is the on-line one maintained by your local chain of newspapers.

Before that same on line world gutted newspaper news rooms, of course.

So again in New Brunswick in May 1989 when Gabriel Wortman was back in Moncton after a year away at UNB, the local daily reports that a Wortman was charged with kidnapping a neighbour’s dog.

When the case went to court four months later, the case collapsed for ‘lack of evidence’ .

One of those many cases where the police can find plenty of evidence to charge a person and leave their reputation dangling in the wind for four months, but suddenly the prosecutor can find no evidence to back up that slur, under oath, in a public court.

“Prosecutorial discretion” is what AG William Barr calls it, when he dropped the charges for his boss’s best bud, General Kelly : victims have no criminal rights or criminal redress if the criminal prosecutor suddenly drops the charges.

Gabriel Wortman was NOT the one charged.

However, it is not unknown that a doting relative agrees to takes the rap so the kid doesn’t have the sort of record that would keep him from joining the RCMP or becoming a licensed mortician or licensed denturist ——- and then going upwards and onwards to kill 23 people...

joel pink invents CHUTZPAH : “my client should serve less time for strangling victim because he’s got PTSD - from strangling the victim”

CHUTZPAH is a dish best served pink
I can’t help thinking that Joel Pink and Roy Cohn would have made one heck of a great Doubles Act, back in the days of Vaudeville.

Cohn would be Costello, staking out the most outrageous legal arguments in the most flamboyant and over the top manner possible.

Pink would play Abbott, also advancing the most outlandishly impossible legal arguments, but with as straight a face and a calm  and respectful manner as possible.

Both really really great actors : as hammy as two goys on a pig farm.

With Cohn few would question my characteristic of him as great Ham - but Pink - most would disagree.

But for me,  the best “tell” as to Pink’s true character is his frequent, even excessive use of an terse, emphatic “OK ?”to punctuate (for mere milli-seconds) the ongoing rush of his argument.

Others with this particular type of character failure may use “Right?” or “Yes?” or - in the UK - “Yeah?” but what binds them all is they do not seriously pause, to give the other party to the conversation time to actually raise objections that the rhetorical question appears to invite.

We all have friends who speak like this, nice enough people sure, but shall we say..er.. that they are not much troubled by self doubt.

And lack of internal self doubt is what always marks the true HAM...

MSM and MMS : how to safely tell them apart before attending any McNeil presser

warning : listening to MSM will bore you to death
MSM refers to the Main Stream Media : the sort of media outlets still permitted to question Stephen McNeil. So you know they’re completely safe and completely harmless - or why else would Premier McNeil permit them to question him ? Even his own Cabinet isn’t permitted to do that.

warning :  drinking MMS will poison you to death
MMS refers to Miracle Mineral Supplement, a supposed cure for Covid promoted by QNon, a widely popular, wildly poisonous, Republican Party religious cult. It is actually industrial bleach, completely un-safe and completely harmful. Premier McNeil would never permit it to attend any of his press conferences....

Young people don’t have to social distance because (a) they’re invincible or (b) they’re stupid ?

They speak excellent english but ignored the signs
Hard one, ain’t ?

There is good news coming out of Ontario on the Covid front at last - as well as some new bad news.

Fewer new cases overall, fewer deaths- great news.

A sharp rise in covid cases in those in their twenties - bad news.

It is thought they might be picking covid up on public transport.

Roger that.

Today I made my usual daily bus trip and out of the Passage and both times I saw young people not social distancing.

Or if they were, it was the “intimate exchange of bodily fluids” type of social distancing.

I disguised the back of the heads of the guilty in an excess of caution because, like other countries such as Germany and France, Canadian citizens seen born with a pickle up their ass when it comes to the invasion of their privacy.

Not as bad a crime as sexually molesting a young child, of course, but it does seem to run a close second...

as an amateur historian and contrary to CBC & Wendy, I don’t believe that “there are words that should never be used”

I was horrified into thinking that, despite that the PM, that Wendy Mesley had actually used the “W” word - you know WORTMAN...
Pictures ?

That’s a far different story.

Since my book on penicillin involves contrasts fatally-ill New York Jews being cured by a dying doctor with healthy East European Jews being murdered by doctors, I have to face the fact that in those infamous Bloodlands, most of WWII’s deaths occurred, and in unbelievably cruel ways.

I can’t stomach using any violent images - and my book is filled with images ordinarily - in these sections.

Words, being at second hand, can be potentially softer.

But I won’t lie or re-write history.

If I describe the deeper implications of Hitler literally saying (& thinking) of Jews as acting actually like “fungus”  to feed upon the volk state to explain why he wanted even baby Jewish children killed, I will do so.

I can not simply say ‘Hitler insulted the Jews by calling them the F-word’ : to say his use of this word was simply as a casual ‘insult’ is bathetic.

Similarly to try and describe the subtle racism in 1940s whites even thinking ‘nigra’ was a real improvement on an earlier N-word allows us to see the shift from open racism to hidden racism in America.

To dissect the minds of haters, we need to dissect their hate words.

But we should never use those hate words ourselves to describe others......

inquiry demands : for premier McNeil, with enemies like Houston & Burrill, who needs friends ?

None of Nova Scotia’s three big parties wants a Gabriel Wortman public inquiry, at least not a real public inquiry : that’s cruel.

In the two decades of tolerating the millionaire medical professional’s violence, all three parties were in power and none are eager to share the blame when the blame does finally emerge.

If McNeil is soundly defeated on this RCMP ‘rural policing by remote control’ issue and I believe he will be, it will be in spite of his political opponents, not because of them.

The key ‘swing voter’ bloc in this province are older rural Nova Scotians.

And trust me, they are sick to death (and scared to death) that if they have to call for real help in the middle of a home invasion, that help might come too little and come too late, come from some undermanned centralized concrete bunker a 150 km away over rough roads.

And the CFA constable won’t know their village , won’t know its off-road getaway trails, won’t know its bad guys, won’t know a Back Road from a Front Harbour.

Timmy and Gary and Stevie : people out there beyond the big city lights are scared and angry ; talk to them, speak up, grow a pair....

all roads in the world lead to TRURO, not Rome : if asked, Truro PD could have bottled up Wortman like a bug in a jar : but they weren’t asked

If GABE wanted to try his car on the unused logging roads in early April, good luck to him
Particularly in early April when the slush and the mud make the surrounding unpaved logging roads impassable to ordinary cars and most four-wheelers, the only way from western Colchester County Nova Scotia to Halifax is a pass through what Nova Scotians and tourists not so fondly call ‘The Hub’, Truro Nova Scotia.

Its more ‘The Maze’ really : an endless spaghetti of roads and turn arounds and turn abouts and start overs.

If the Truro PD, together with the RCMP (there’s a thought : the RCMP together with another police force ?!) had laid a wide corden around the town, Gabriel Wortman would have been trapped.

Sadly the Serge Sages are children who don’t like to share : information - or credit.

But when the shit hits the fan ?

THEN they will share...

here’s real irony, Alanis : doctors & nurses inside a LOCKED ROOM knew more about Portapique killer than did Nova Scotian public.

RONALD REAGAN’s scariest words : ‘we’re from the Mounties  & we’re here to help’
Its minutes before midnight, April 18th, 2020 and the doctors and nurses at Truro Nova Scotia’s hospital are in lock down mode after a Portapique man injured from gunshots is brought in.

His family members tell them that Portapique is like a charnel house : houses and cars on fire everywhere, bodies everywhere - the heavily armed mass murderer still on the loose, driving a cop car.

MEANWHILE, inside their log cabin on the 14th floor of Mountie headquarters in Bible Hill, a kilometre or two from the hospital, the Sargent Renfrews and their dogs Cuddle were still talking about a ‘firearm incident’ at Portapique.

The self-named Heroes in Serge are here and have the situation at hand : go back to sleep, Nova Scotia...

the MATTHEW Inquiry : a public inquiry on how the NS justice systemically treats wealthy victimizers vs non-wealthy child victims

this generation is due its own MARSHALL style inquiry
I can’t speak as to what Canada should do but I have now come to believe that Nova Scotia should hold a public inquiry far different than the one most Nova Scotians have been calling for.

For no matter how hard we dissect the mistakes made by the RCMP on April 18th-19th 2020, the fact remains that the majority of Gabriel Wortman’s victims were already dead by the time the RCMP arrived.

The best - indeed the only - time the justice system had to save 24 lives occurred eighteen years earlier.

The systemic abuse endured then by the child victim, delivered on the grounds of simple expediency, ultimately cost 23 other equally innocent victims their lives two decades later.

The Law of Unintended Consequences on this occasion returned with a vengeance to deliver Nova Scotia a lethal bite.

But I don’t think a public inquiry need dwell on this point, we ordinary Nova Scotians are not as stupid as the authorities believe, we can fill in the blanks, draw conclusions, follow cause and affect.

For we may never again see a spree killer like Gabriel Wortman in Nova Scotia, even in our grandchildren’s lifetime.

But what happened to young Matthew M in 2002, is still happening to the poor victims of wealthy victimizers today in Nova Scotia, indeed all over the world where the adversary law system holds sway.

Judging from the total lack of mea culpas from over a dozen highly senior crown prosecutors, defence lawyers, judges and police officers in the months since news of GW’s 2002 assault conviction leaked out, it is clear they remain convinced that the appropriate justice result was produced at the time.

You might even be convinced that Matthew shares their smug self-satisfaction at the verdict reached.

I understand fully how you might feel that way : you have been reading any one of dozens of media reports that simply speak of a GW assault against “another man” that resulted in a $50 fine.

”Big deal”, you sniff, “just two friends getting into a bit of a push and shove just before closing time in a bar”.

That is not the way the police saw it, after a thorough two month long investigation : they charged Wortman with criminal assault punishable with up to five years in jail for an interrupted attempt to beat a child to death.

GBH, as the crime shows from Britain always refer to it : grievous bodily harm.

And that is clearly not how Matthew, the bystander witnesses who rescued him or the hospital doctors, remember the assault, judging by the initial police charge.

Matthew told the Toronto Star’s Steve McKinley the unprovoked and prolonged assault, from behind, on a total stranger, was both “bizarre” and “violent”.

World famous mass killer profiler Mary Ellen O’Toole could not have boiled down the twin defining characteristics of a red alarm “violence leakage” from a injustice collector potential mass killer any better herself.

And no, Matthew is not convinced justice was done back then.

In April 2020, Matthew told Global News’ Andrew Russell

I think there should have been a bit more justice here : a grown man beating up on basically a young teenage kid. I wish the police would have dealt with him a lot sooner. I wish he would have lost everything back then. Basically, this (24 dead) might not have happened....

I have reviewed the available evidence thoroughly and fully agree, in spades.

Hold the damn MATTHEW INQUIRY, Stephen : the decisions made by your half dozen relatives on the HRM police force at the time of this systemic screwing of a child victim can go to  blazes !

Babs MacLean & Gabe Wortman : anger management assessment in 2003 : yes or no ?

its not just parents that abuse children - sometimes JUSTICE SYSTEMS do as well
Karissa Donkin is a CBC investigative reporter who asks the right questions, the questions so many of us want answers to.

She got totally stonewalled by the NS Justice System (“Private Babs MacLean reporting for stone-wall duty, sur !”) but I am not surprised.

Those JS ADULTS have so much to be ashamed about, so much to hide.

A $50 fine to a hulking brute who tried to kill a child from behind, without warning, the child a total stranger, a child already walking away as fast as he could.

ADULTS : well paid highly trained professional ADULTS with a sworn duty to protect innocent children.

A child betrayed, morally stabbed in the back by ADULTS just as the ADULT brute physically struck him in the back.

But along with the chump-change-to-a-millionaire $50 fine, Gabe Wortman was ordered to report to a probation officer and to attend anger management sessions, to assess whether he likely to get violent ever again.

(Hint to the ADULTS in the room : 23 innocent deaths, proceeded by a long list of violent assaults.)

Karissa wondered, just wondered, how the sessions with the probation officer went, and ditto the anger management sessions and what did the final anger assessment report say about his propensity to re-offend.

I had heard cynical commentators opine that Gabe never went to the probation officer, anger assessment et al but I have a little more faith in our justice system.

My faith in them is about - oh how did Jesus put it ? -  is about as big as a widow’s mite.

Babs pulled out the old “privacy” evasion, that Flanders & Swann universal Wompom of  bureaucratic chicanery, on Karissa.

But forget the 25 cent words from the bureaucrats : in plain old, pardon my french, english this is just a whole pile of ADULTS ashamed to admit to other ADULTS that they betrayed a child they were sworn to protect.

Still unwilling to say sorry to the child they betrayed, the 23 innocent people they betrayed, the Nova Scotia taxpayers they betrayed.

Prominent crown prosecutors, policemen, judges, defence lawyers : all ADULTS, all unwilling to say sorry to a child betrayed.

But one fine day, I believe we will go together to a Big Courthouse In The Sky, where a Big (omnipresent, omniscient) Judge will review the facts in this case - the public and the private, all the shredded papers magically back together, all emails undeleted, all the phone calls back on tape.

It will be one hell of a Public Inquiry , a place where the custodial sentences for un-heartfelt mea culpas can seem Eternal.

So shall we publicly repent today, apologize to Matthew, say we are sorry - or do we wait until Jesus comes back with the Search Warrants....
